In the course, we will be covering the core concepts of:

• Composition

• Perspective

• Color Theory

• Palette Organization and Mixing

• Brush Technique

And many other practical elements that come with successful plein-air painting.

Below is an example of a typical lesson plan, though lesson time/duration is customizable.

8:00 AM - 9:00 AM: Live painting demonstration with lecture about the process.

9:00 AM - 9:30AM: Break.

9:30 AM - 12:00PM: Guided painting practice.

12:00PM - 12:30PM: A brief review of the lesson and end-of-day critique.

The material list will be sent to you via email or WhatsApp after signing up for the course.

This course is exclusively taught in oil paint, though some pencil or charcoal sketching is involved!

Materials are not included in the price of tuition.

The portability and lightness of your easel is a must, since some painting locations require a bit of walking.

Accommodation, travel expenses, and meals are not included with tuition.

Amerigo Vespucci Airport (FLR), Pisa Airport (PSA) or Bologna Airport (BLQ) are well connected to Florence via shuttle bus or the train.

Florence is a small and very walkable city, though I recommend you book accommodation anywhere at or near the historical center to arrive at the painting locations easily.

We will be painting at various locations in or around the historical city center.

Potential locations include, but are not limited to: Piazza della Santissima Annunziata, The Ponte Vecchio Bridge, Piazzale Michelangelo, along the river bank of the Arno, etc.

In case of rain, there are various beautiful arcades around the city that provide good shelter and plans will be adjusted as necessary.

Due to the nature of plein air instruction (travel, site selection, equipment setup, and preparation) clients are kindly asked to provide a minimum of 24 hours' notice for cancellations or scheduling changes.

If a session is missed without prior notice (a no-show), a fee equivalent to one session (4.5 hrs) of instruction will be charged to cover the time, travel, and resources committed to the appointment.

This policy ensures fairness and allows for effective scheduling. Thank you for your understanding and respect for the time and planning involved in each session.
